| Mt. Everest, the roof of the world described by the Nepalese as “Sagarmatha,” meaning the goddess of the sky, has enthralled explorers all around the world. Some admire its majestic beauty, others dream about climbing it, but only a few have the courage to conquer the summit of Everest. One of these rare stories is the “Journey to Everest”.
On November 14, 2009, Mitrata-Nepal Foundation for Children will present “Journey to Everest”, a personal account of the extraordinary journey of Everest summiter Michael Frank and his co-climber Ambrose Bittner. This event is co-sponsored by Maryville University in St. Louis. Proceeds from this event will go to supporting Mitrata Nepal Foundation For Children, which supports the Mitrata Children’s Home in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Tickets are $30 for the general public, $25 for Maryville faculty and staff, and $10 for students with ID. Doors open at 5:30pm and the lecture and photo presentation will begin at 6 p.m. in the Maryville University Auditorium. A silent auction and a reception with the climbers will follow. Drinks and homemade Nepalese snacks will be served.
The Mitrata-Nepal Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping underprivileged children in Nepal.
